Aurora Paper Shredder

Aurora makes a range of paper shredders ranging from super cheapies at under 20 dollars to over one thousand dollar models.

They make strip cut, crosscut, and microcut shredders.

Aurora makes models appropriate for light duty personal use, which they define as shredding 10-20 times a day, medium duty, shredding 25-50 times a day in the home or home office, heavy duty, for frequent small office or home duty, shredding up to 50-100 times a day, and continuous, designed for office use with mutliple users shredding constantly.

As with most things, you get what you pay for with shredders and it's hard to recommend most of their entry level shredders as although many users are happy too many report problems and dissatisfaction. This is true for most all "cheap" paper shredders.

One inexpensive model with primarily positive reviews is the Aurora AS420C Desktop Style Crosscut Paper Shredder with Basket It's about 30 dollars, has a very compact design, and even shreds credit cards and staples. They claim it shreds paper clips but I'd be very careful and  not attempt it! Full sheets of paper do need to be folded to fit, and the basket fills quickly due to its small size, but it's a pretty good budget and light duty paper shredder.

The Aurora AS1018CD 10 Sheet Crosscut Paper/Credit Card/CD Shredder with Basket is another recommended model, and a couple of steps up at $80 or so. Some people complain that it's ugly although it seems like an average office machine to me - it's not supposed to be  a work of art! If I can find one locally I'll probably buy it to replace my home office Royal paper shredder which recently died unexpectedly,  but worked OK under a higher than recommended load.
